 On-Page Factors

On-Page SEO factors include the most important and basic factors of SEO

1)Length of the title and its uniqueness

Most probably the length of any website title should be under 55 characters then and only then the maximum characters will be displayed by any search engine. But due to Google’s recent SERP redesign these number of characters fail to display your whole title. In this redesign there is increase in the font size of the titles. Also the uniqueness of the title plays important role for any website. You should have a unique title that is appropriate for your website.

2)Description length

Meta description is not so important for SEO work, but is very important to get maximum number of visitors click. It is the opportunity for webmaster’s to advertise the content of the webpage. The description should represent the keywords intelligently, but also create a compelling short description that a searcher will want to click for the whole content. It should be roughly in between 150-160 characters.

3) URL structure and length

Hyphens are the best practice to separate the URLs in any website’s URL instead of underscore or any other characters, but using plenty of hyphens can make look URL spam.

4) Multiple header tags consideration

heading optimization

The structure of header tags in a page is an important aspect for considering while content creation.

  • Firstly the most important heading tag is “H1” which is mostly one in all the pages, the title should be always in H1 tag.
  • The sub-heading should be H2, sub-sub heading should be H3 and likewise.

In addition to such headings the important keywords should also be involved in the heading. Search engines crawl and understand the layout of the content according to the header tags used.

5) Content Matters

One line I always remember that is-“Content is King”, visitors for your site needs correct and specific information. People surfing through web needs perfect data (information), if you provide appropriate information to the visitors then the visitors will stick to your site and will visit your site again and again.Your site content should be up to date and specific for any particular page.

Copied content from any other site is considered as “Plagiarism”, and because of dummy content your site might suffer from penalty.

Sub points: giving sub-points to your content is like “icing on the cake”, well organized content always comprises with sub-points. Try and use to divide your content in sub-points, so that the readers need not to read deep inside any paragraph to search for a query. Also it is not so boring to read points rather than whole paragraph.

6) Internal Links

All the pages in a website must have at least a single link to any other page of your website. The reason for this is when a crawler visits to any of the page, finds the link to other page and crawl through that page. This makes your whole website crawled. Hence internal linking of the website is a basic need for any website.

7) Importance of the anchor text

Anchor texts are the text that appears on behave of any link that means these are the doors through which you may gain maximum clicks from the visitors. Hence these text needs to be informative and attractive so that visitors wants to click the links.

8) Image size

Image size plays an important role for the loading speed of the website, images in any website needs to be compressed so that the website will not suffer because of the heavy image sizes.

9) Images with ALT tags

All the images of the websites should have alter tag, this tag describe the subject of any image. The crawlers don’t understand the images; they read your images through its ALT tag only. For any spider (crawler) it is necessary to have appropriate ALT tag to understand the image.

10) Broken links

Broken links are those links present in your website that are not working and not redirecting to any of the webpage. Broken links in any website may stop your website being crawling by the spiders, hence the broken links to a website needs to be fixed or removed.

11)No follow tag

No follow meta tag has to be added in order to instruct the search engine spider “not to follow links of the page”, when you don’t want search engine to follow any link of your webpage, you may also add no follow relation at link level for a specific link.

12)301 & 302 page redirection

301 is the permanent redirect which indicates that the page has been moved permanently to a new location. With this redirection all your SEO benefits are safely moved to new location and the link popularity is also maintained. 302 is the temporary redirection which does not pass link value to the new link.

13)Page speed

This is an important factor for on page optimization, the page speed of your website should not be more then 2-3 seconds. If it is so then you may loose your majority website traffic.

14)Pages like about us, contact us and privacy policy

Pages like about us, contact us etc should be added in a website, these pages indicates that you are not fake; you have your genuine identity on web. Also specify author details so that a visitor can contact author directly for further discussions. You should also mention all your privacy policies in a privacy page, which shows your clear views about your firm.
